Alongside your device's MAC address, Simba Player asks for a device key when you log in. Here's what it is and how it fits into the setup process.
What the device key does
Your MAC address identifies which physical device is connecting — but on its own, it's not private information, so it shouldn't be the only thing standing between your playlist and anyone else. The device key acts as the second piece: together, the MAC address and device key uniquely pair your account to your device, the same way a username and password work together.
Where to find it
Your device key is generated when your device is first set up. If you already have one, it's the code you were given (or set) at that time. If you don't have it or can't find it:
- Use the "Contact support" link on the Upload Playlist page to reach the support team over WhatsApp
- Have your MAC address ready — support will need it to look up or reissue your key
Changing your device key
Once logged in, you can generate a new device key at any time from the Change Device Key tab in your dashboard — useful if you suspect someone else has your current key, or if you simply want to reset it. After saving a new key, use it (instead of the old one) the next time you log in.
Keep it somewhere safe
Since the device key is what protects access to your playlist settings, treat it the way you'd treat a password — don't share it publicly, and store it somewhere you can find again if needed.
